Gum Disease Treatment

Healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy smile. If yours bleed, feel tender, or have started to recede, gentle treatment now can protect your teeth for years to come.

What it is

Gum (periodontal) disease begins when plaque and tartar build up below the gumline, leading to inflammation. In its early stage — gingivitis — gums may bleed or look red and puffy. Left unchecked, it can progress and affect the bone that supports your teeth.

The good news: caught early, it's very manageable. Treatment ranges from a focused cleaning and improved home care to deeper cleanings (scaling and root planing) for more advanced cases.

What to expect

  1. 1

    A careful assessment

We measure the health of your gums and take X-rays if needed to understand what's happening below the surface.

  2. 2

    The right level of cleaning

Depending on what we find, we'll recommend a regular cleaning, a deeper scaling and root planing, or a tailored maintenance plan.

  3. 3

    Coaching for home

We'll show you simple, effective ways to care for your gums between visits.

Your comfort comes first

Deeper cleanings are done with local anesthetic so you stay comfortable. We work gently and one area at a time, and we'll always explain what we're doing and why.

Common questions

Why do my gums bleed?

Bleeding gums are most often an early sign of inflammation from plaque buildup. It's common and usually reversible with a professional cleaning and good home care. Have it checked so we can help it heal.

Is gum disease reversible?

The earliest stage, gingivitis, is often reversible with treatment and good home care. More advanced gum disease can be controlled and managed to protect your teeth, even if earlier changes can't be fully undone.
